How to Find a Shoe Style Code on Any Brand
When you pick up a shoe at a thrift store, the style code is the fastest way to know what you're holding and what it's worth. It's a unique identifier — part number, part model fingerprint — that tells eBay's search engine exactly which shoe you have. Get it right and you'll find accurate sold listings in seconds. Skip it and you're guessing. This guide covers 74+ brands and shows you exactly where the style code appears on each one, what it looks like, and what to search. Why the style code matters
Every shoe brand formats its tags differently. Nike puts the code on the tongue label as a six-digit number followed by a dash and three more digits. New Balance puts it under the width designation. Frye uses a five-digit number that's easy to confuse with a longer identifier on the same tag. Knowing which number to search — and which to ignore — is the difference between finding three relevant sold comps and getting zero results.
The process is simple: pick up the shoe, locate the style code using this guide, type it into eBay's search bar, and filter to Sold listings. What comes back tells you what buyers are actually paying for that exact shoe. That's your pricing baseline before you commit to buying.

Find the letters "ART" on the tongue label. The style code is the alphanumeric number that follows it.
S80476 Search just the code itself — skip the "ART" prefix. Add "Adidas" before the code if results are thin.
Altra Style Code
Look right under the width designation (W for women's, M for men's) on the inner tag.
AL LAVQY460 Ariat Style Code
Look for the word "Style" on the tag. The style code follows it.
10027315 The number of digits varies between boots and shoes within the Ariat brand.
Ariat Work Style Code
Similar to standard Ariat but followed by the SKU rather than preceded by "Style." Look for the SKU number.
ASICS Style Code
Look at the top of the inner tag for the primary code.
1201A827-100. Typically three or four numbers, a letter, more numbers, a dash, then three more numbers. Search the full code including the dash and the three-digit suffix — it includes the colorway.
Avalanche Style Code
Standard inner tag location — look for the numeric style code.
If the code returns no results, search brand name + model name instead.
Bogs Style Code
Top right of the tag box.

Brooks Style Code
Inner tag — similar position to ASICS.

Varies by tag style. Some tags show a numeric code in the middle. Others show the model name only.

ECCO Style Code
Look near the bottom of the tag — but not the very last number. Find the area where two numbers are stacked on top of each other. Use the top number.

You won't have this page memorized on day one — and you don't need to. Bookmark it on your phone and pull it up while you're standing in the shoe aisle. Pick up the pair, find the brand, locate the style code using the guide, and search eBay sold listings before you commit to buying. After a few sourcing runs you'll have the major brands memorized. The ones you source regularly will become automatic. The ones you see less often are exactly why this page exists.
A few brands on this list — Fizik, Lake, NoBull, Oakley footwear — don't use traditional style codes. For those, search by model name. It takes a few extra seconds but the results are just as useful.
One more thing: the style code tells you what shoe you have. The sold listings tell you what it's worth. Neither one alone is enough — you need both before you put that shoe in your cart.
